It happened years ago, or last month. Either way, your body hasn’t put it down.

That’s what trauma counselling is for. Lighthouse is a trauma counselling clinic for people carrying something that won’t fade.

Text 604-809-5848or call, if that’s easier.

Your message goes to Robert, the clinic director — not a call centre or a bot. He replies the same day. No script needed; “hi” is enough.

Is this you

  • You’re fine all day, then 3 a.m. comes.
  • Certain smells, sounds, or streets send you somewhere else.
  • You’ve told the story so many times it feels rehearsed — but nothing’s changed.
  • People say you seem fine. You don’t feel fine.
  • You’ve started to wonder if this is just who you are now.

What we work with

What trauma can feel like in the body

Trauma — including PTSD — doesn’t only live in memories. It shows up as headaches that arrive with certain thoughts. A throat that tightens for no reason. A stomach that’s never settled. Tingling, numbness, muscles that won’t unclench, breath that stays shallow.

If doctors keep finding nothing, that doesn’t mean nothing’s wrong. It may mean the injury isn’t physical.

Who’s behind Lighthouse

Robert Miles, sitting in natural light, looking at the camera with a calm expression.

Robert Miles, Founder

Robert came to this work after his own trauma — and after years of talk therapy that went nowhere. What finally helped wasn’t more talking. It was approaches that work with the body and eyes, not just words (EMDR and OEI, among others). He built Lighthouse around them: a small team of therapists, every one of them trauma-trained.

Robert reads each first message himself and matches you with the therapist who fits — or tells you plainly if Lighthouse isn’t right, and where to go instead.

What happens next

01

You text

Robert replies the same day and offers a free 15-minute call. “Hi” is enough.

02

You talk

He’ll ask what’s been going on — nothing you’re not ready to say.

03

You decide

If it feels right, he matches you with the therapist who fits, and you book a first session. If not, that’s fine too.

What changes

It’s different for everyone. But people describe the same small things: sleeping through the night. A loud noise staying just a loud noise. Telling the story without leaving the room. Feeling like yourself again — not all day at first, but more and more.

Common questions

Does insurance cover this?
Most extended health plans cover Registered Clinical Counsellors. Look for “RCC” or “clinical counsellor” in your plan.
Do I have to talk about what happened?
Not until you’re ready — and with some approaches, not in detail at all.
How long does it take?
Honestly, it varies. Some people feel a shift within a few sessions; deeper work takes longer. You set the pace, and you can stop anytime.
Is online as good as in person?
For most people, yes. Same therapist, same approaches, your own space.

“They are so validating and reaffirming of my emotions. I feel heard and understood during our sessions. I experienced tremendous growth in my five months.”

— Daphne, former client

Whenever you’re ready.

Today, next week, later. A text is enough to start. Nothing is decided by saying hi.
